We can provide you with a lawyer who is a specialist in taxi cab driving offences and can give you advice and assistance and representation at any court, often at short notice.

Our specialist lawyer will make contact with you and provide a first class service to you. We will take your full instructions and if you wish provide you with advice only or representation in court if you so wish.

Taxi drivers fall into two categories. Private hire drivers are those that can attend pre-arranged jobs and usually pick up work through a radio controller. Hackney carriage drivers can be flagged down in the street. The licensing of both sets of drivers is down to the local authority in which they work. The authority will consider new applications and will also consider applications to renew. Basically, the person applying must satisfy the local authority that they are a fit and proper person to hold such a licence.

Difficulties can arise where an applicant on a new application has points upon his licence or indeed a criminal record. In these circumstances the application may well be refused. If this is the case a hearing of sorts will take place before members of the committee who will consider the application. It is possible for the applicant to be legally represented at such a hearing. We have experience of attending such meetings on behalf of drivers.

If the applicant is unsuccessful before the committee, he can appeal against the decision to the local Magistrates Court. There are certain procedures that need to be followed in relation to the service of evidence and a pre-hearing bundle will normally be required by the Court. Again, we have experience of such cases. If the appeal to the Magistrates Court proves unsuccessful then a person can take their case to the Crown Court. Again, we have dealt with such cases.

For the best possible legal advice and representation please contact us. We will ensure that your case is represented in the best possible way thus assuring you the most favourable outcome. Call us now to speak to one of our specialist lawyers.
